We come across a lot of stories from all around our country. Some of them are motivating but some of them are truly inspiring. Making your parents proud, especially your mother is more than a dream for many young and hard-working students. And one of the journeys of a Blockchain Engineer from Maharastra makes us believe that not all success stories are identical. Some are rather exceptional. From being from a family belonging to a farming background, no one would have ever thought that a boy could perform exceptionally.

Being from a humble background, Dattatray's father wanted him to leave his engineering and rather apply for a teacher's job after completing D. Ed.

But he had some other plans in her mind. He was a blockchain enthusiast, and thus performed very well in the blockchain domain. As the blockchain is a booming technology and as this technology could be integrated into a lot of real-life projects and domains, he did the same. He gained a practical and real-life experience in blockchain development and carved his path to becoming an expert in it. Overcoming all the hardships in his life he was able to excel at what he is today.

His Journey:

In 2019, he participated in what is known as India's largest AI and Blockchain hackathon, and he and his team were able to become the winner of it leaving behind around 10000 participants all over the country.

In October, the Icertis' AI/ML and Blockchain Hackathon kicked off online, drawing in nearly 10,000 participants from across India. Out of these participants, 1,306 advanced to the final submission phase. The competition then narrowed down to 12 elite teams who competed on-site at the Icertis office in Pune during a non-stop 24-hour hack. The hackathon challenge was to build a web and mobile interface, develop and train AI/ML algorithms, and utilize appropriate cloud services including Microsoft Azure Blockchain as a Service.

Despite he and all of his team members being from not-so-big cities of the country, Dattatray created a unique Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain-based application to solve real-life problems have won India's largest AI and blockchain hackathon, grabbing an all-paid trip to Seattle along with Rs. 5 lakh grand prize. Organized by Icertis, a leading provider of enterprise contract management in the cloud, announced the winners of its AI/ML and Blockchain Hackathon held in Pune.

The name of his team was Blockchain Megaminds which came up with an innovative solution of utilizing Machine Learning (ML) models to build an app that can analyze crop distress and weather patterns and contracts for instant and automated claim settlements to those adversely affected in the case of crop failures and natural disasters.

Despite facing struggles in his life and a lot of pressure from his father to pursue a teaching career, Jadhav's passion for technology and eagerness to learn blockchain technology led him to research and learn about blockchain, AI, and data science. In 2017, he became interested in blockchain technology and its potential to bring transparency and peer-to-peer security to various industries. He has been practicing in the blockchain space for three years now, and his story of winning India's largest AI and blockchain hackathon remains an inspiration for teenagers and the innovations that could bring solutions to many problems.

About Current Job Role:

As a blockchain expert, currently, his job involves gathering requirements from the client, consultation, solutions architecting, development, and lastly, delivery of the project. He said, “The most difficult part is to gather the requirement from client and the fitting the same into the blockchain or ML/AI system. This gets challenging because the client has a different way of looking at it, and as technology is not fully matured, it gets a bit difficult to convince them.” Till now, his most successful project is a supply chain trade financing application for an international client — the app is currently in production.

Blockchain:

Blockchain is a digital ledger system that records and stores information in a secure and decentralized way. It's often used in the context of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, but can also be used in many other applications such as supply chain management, smart contracts, and voting systems. In recent years, the market for blockchain technology has grown rapidly, driven by increasing adoption and investment in the technology by various industries.

According to a report by MarketsandMarkets, the global blockchain market size is expected to reach $57,641.3 million by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 69.4% from 2019 to 2025. The report cites the increasing adoption of blockchain in various industries such as banking, healthcare, and supply chain management as the major factors driving growth. The blockchain technology market is expected to continue growing in the coming years, driven by increasing adoption and investment in the technology. The market is expected to see significant growth in various industries and domains, as the technology continues to prove its potential to improve efficiency and security in various business processes.

Advice For Aspirants To Win Hackathons:

When asked for advice, Jadhav suggested four points — firstly, the participants should have a clear idea about their interests and what needs to be achieved; secondly, the participants should have proper planning in setting up their goals for making it in a specific timeline; thirdly, the participants should restrict the scope; and fourthly, the participants should consider a positive flow and should prepare well for the presentation.
